Educate myself about the history of racism, slavery, land seizure and its impact on people of color.

I recognize this responsibility is mine alone and will not rely on BIPOC members of my community to educate me.

I will stay informed about best practices for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the camp setting.

Contribute *

Foster a camp culture that actively addresses racism, discrimination and access.

I will set clear expectations for behavior and communication that promote respect, tolerance, safety and empathy among campers and staff.

Practice Allyship *

Actively listen to BIPOC campers and my peers about their experiences by creating a safe space for them to share their thoughts and feelings.

I will learn from their perspectives and uplift their voices for the betterment of our camp environment.

Be Supportive *

Provide support and resources to community members who may feel marginalized.

I will work to ensure they have a positive camp experience.

I will be conscious of my words and actions and I will lead by example, demonstrating through my actions and interactions how to be anti-racist.

Take Action *

Advocate for and implement inclusive practices, ensuring that camp activities and facilities are accessible to all campers, regardless of their backgrounds or abilities.

I will advocate that programming and curriculum development promote racial diversity and inclusion.

I will incorporate activities, stories, and materials that reflect a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

I will collaborate with my fellow camp professionals and professional DEI consultants to promote anti-racist initiatives and be open to feedback.

I believe in the redistribution of wealth as a way to create access for systematically disadvantaged communities.
